NIYAMA is a cool and collected but very child-friendly resort (it has the only crèche in the Maldives for children as young as 12 months). Cunningly situated over twin islands named Chill and Play linked via a bridge, you can expect a naturally occurring division between luxury-seeking couples and fun-loving families at this barefoot chic resort.
Each private villa takes at least two adults and two children under 12 and enjoys powder-blue skies above your open-air bathroom and outdoor rain shower, a full-sized fridge brimming with snacks such as deli items and ice cream, an in-room entertainment system and a ‘Thakuru’ butler service. There are a number of private villas with a fibre-optic lit pool. Beach Pavilions are nestled amidst tropical gardens and are more spacious and ideal for longer stays or larger families. We love the over water pavilions, that come with uninterrupted views of the ocean and a private infinity pool.
Active guests will appreciate the range of water sports available and you could easily plan to do something different every day. From boat trips to snorkel sites, catamaran sailing and wakeboarding, to game fishing, kitesurfing and diving at the PADI dive centre. Surfing is a key activity at Niyama as it’s the only five-star Island where you can surf direct from the shore. Childrens learn to surf lesson are also available. The DRIFT Spa, is located within a green sanctuary oasis on Chill.
Choose from the many restaurants such as Mediterranean dining at the hip Blu around the family pool or a fusion of Latin and African cuisine at Tribal. Then there is a wonderful Asian-inspired Nest, which is the only restaurant like it in the Maldives, where you dine in a treehouse in the green heart of the island. In addition take advantage of all-day dining at Epicure, Lunch at Subsix the underwater restaurant and bar, or for a special evening dine at Edge, located in the middle of the ocean.
If you want to sidle off for a bit of me-time the children will be pleading to go to the Explorers Kids Clubs, designed to fire the imagination of all ages. With Master Chef classes and a splash park, Niyama makes sure your little ones get the VIP treatment.
