Less than an hour’s drive from heady Marrakech, this eclectic walled haven owned by Sir Richard Branson, is set in its own lush gardens framed against the stunning backdrop of the snow capped Atlas Mountains.

The property is characterised by quaint private areas, rose petal filled fountains and a chilled-out ambience that seeps into your skin within minutes of arriving. Local Berber staff are employed from the surrounding villages, giving you a sense of staying in a traditional Moroccan home rather than a hotel.

Each of the rooms and suites in the Kasbah has been individually decorated to reflect the beautiful architecture of the building and feature antiques from all over the world. The luxury Berber Tented Suites are perched on the hillside boasting breathtaking views over the Atlas Mountains and valley. Located amongst the pretty herb and vegetable garden, each spacious suite sports the latest technology and has its own plunge pool on the terrace.

If you want to relax there’s a fabulous spa with a heated indoor and outdoor pool, a traditional Moroccan Hammam and a sauna. For the more active, there’s tennis courts and a gym with panoramic views to the valley and the Atlas Mountains.

Activities for children (running at certain times of the year) include treasure hunts, Moroccan cooking classes, pool parties and horse and carriage rides.

A vibrant and more “off the wall” choice of destination, Morocco has recently rocketed inpopularity because of its close proximity to the UK by direct flight combined with its air of mysticism, and the emergence of new fabulously stylish hotels.

With the straits of Gibraltar as a border, it is characterised by some breathtaking landscapes from the snow-capped Atlas Mountains to the searing sands of the Sahara Desert.

Vibrant Marrakech is utterly captivating and rises from the middle of the desert like an oasis. Visiting the walls of the old city, it feels like you are stepping back in time to ancient Arabia. The combination of heat, colour, noise and swirling scents, such as orange blossom and spices, make a trip to this city an intoxicating experience not to be missed.

If you like shopping, spend a day in the souks where you can buy all manner of trinkets, furniture and jewellery – but be prepared to haggle! However, if you want to enjoy some peace and quiet you will find many of the world-class hotels here are a sanctuary of calm with walled gardens and tinkling fountains, where you can enjoy a refreshment of mint tea and local pastries. We recommend that you also spend a few days in the Atlas Mountains, which are extremely beautiful and are home to some exclusive retreats.

We travelled to Kasbah Tamadot full of optimism that we had chosen a great location to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and we were completely thrilled with the outcome. A great location, of course! A wonderful hotel, of course!....but these ingredients require a great team to bring the experience alive, and the Tamadot team certainly deliver. We have had the priveledge of staying in some lovely hotels around the world, and in its own way this compares with the best. Service is to Indian Ocean standards, and the team extremely warm and friendly, which we always see as important. There is a top down style of informality, but the professionalism remains The sophistication is understated, and this is not true luxury in the normal sense of the word, but with the mix of Moroccon architechure and Indian artifacts the hotel creates an environment just made for you to relax in. A truly memeorable experience, and the romance package puts a considerable amount of icing on an already wonderful cake. Do we recommend it? You bet we do!! David and Carol Mowle

A wonderful hotel - really magical in many ways. It is a real oasis of tranquility and beauty with excellent and friendly staff and great food. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. The spa is good too - especially the hot stone massage which we both highly recommend. We will definately go back.

Perfect, the staff could not do enough for you, the food was amazing and the accomodation fab! We were spoilt the whole time and really felt relaxed. It is just another level above typical holiday hotels and well worth the extra money. One tiny bit of feedback is that the bill on check out could have been clearer, it was just a list of costs and luckly we spotted that they were going to overcharge us on something - but no major issue

I just had 5 nights at Kasbah Tamdot. It is in a beautiful location,in the middle of the Atlas mountains, with views to die for, there is an air of peacefulness floating around and a pace of life reminding me home. The staff is wonderful, not intrusive, efficient, that is if you got time, and time you have over there. Great bedrooms at all level. Of course if you got the money, it seems that the berber tents are superb, and the one to go for. Unfortunatly for me, my budget did not allow me,perhaps next time. Food is good overall. Concistency needs to be reviewed, but as I was leaving, i was introduced to the new chefs, coming from the sister hotel from Necker Island. I am told that he is very good,so looking forward to my next visit. You can arrange some trips while you are there, and I recommend Kasbah Toukbal for lunch,it was terrific, true Berber cuisine, and if you are lucky, like we were to meet the owner he will tell you all about the kasbah history, and why he bought it,super guy. Doing a lot for the community, like the Branson family. It is good to hear, and see what they are doing . From there, you must come back by mountain which is great, just watch out for crazy drivers, while speeding down the hill. But great views . All in all ,Claire and I loved it. We will return.

Kasbah Tamadot is set in the most beautiful and peaceful location. We chose to stay in one of the new Berber tents and it was a good decision. Our tent was totally luxurious with a separate dressing area and a huge, well appointed bathroom. The room itself is like a nice sized suite with 6ft bed, sofa area, tv, dvd, Nespresso coffee machine and a packed mini bar - which they don't seem to replenish! Outside is a large deck with table and chairs and 2 loungers. There is also a rather hot plunge pool which somewhat misses the point. For the moment, since the tents have been set up in one long line of five, you do overlook the other decks but we were lucky and most of the afternoons we chose to lie out there, we were on our own. Hopefully, when the vegetation has grown, they will become more discreet. The room was always cleaned immaculately. Lunches and dinners are excellent, particularly dinner which varies pretty much every night from a tasting menu, to a la carte, to a special. The local wine is very enjoyable so don't bother to over pay on the foreign offerings - in fact, they offered up that advice. Breakfast however is somewhat fly ridden (they don't seem to cover their fruit - sealed yoghurt pots get better treatment) and the pastries are not the best. We didn't try the cooked breakfasts but they did look good if you can eat that sort of thing in intense heat. There is a plentiful staff, mainly from the local villages and they aim to please - sometimes a bit chaotically but always with a big heart and the managers are charming and friendly, constantly doing the rounds. The peace and quiet around the pool is blissful - there were no children when we were there. And to add to the relaxation, we both had excellent massages. Mine was the rose cocoon - highly recommended. We will go back.

Recently returned from 4 night trip and had a very enjoyable time. We are increasingly regular visitors to Marrakech and remain drawn to Jnane Tamsna in La Palmeraie which we adore. Excitingly, this was our first visit into the mountains however we took a little time to adjust to the more commercial feel of Kasbah Tamadot. Despite the obvious beauty of the hotel and its respectful and commendable approach to the local community and environment, we felt it struggled to sit comfortably in its breathtaking surroundings. Seems a harsh view to take but at times the contrast between the hotels' opulence and its wonderfully authentic surroundings was just too jarring. This feeling was further supported by stunning images of the property under the ownership of Luciano Tempo. In summary, the venture clearly makes a contribution to the local community and it delivers as a luxury hotel. Given the humble local way of life however, it just seemed a little over the top.

Very very good overall. Staff brilliant. Meal for 2 on our patio beautifully orchestrated by Jamal. Rather overpriced walk/meal up at Imlil - need to organize some local maps for walkers. No maps wont stop walkers wanting to walk withot a guide in local hills. Your bikes are pretty awful as mentioned - either they need to get them regularly serviced locally or have a cycle tour company providing well maintained bikes on request. Meals are quite expensive and occasional fixed price 'theme dinner' very expensive and was not terrific or good value, otherwise food in general very good. Great holiday. Thanks.
