Blessed with year-round sunshine, the island of Tenerife is an excellent place to escape to during our winter months and although the beaches and warm waters are its main appeal, it also has many other attractions which include the emergence of a new breed of deluxe hotels.
Tenerife is known mainly for its busy tourist areas, but there is much more to this diverse Canarian island. If you look further afield, away fromthe hustle and bustle, you can discover a lesser known side to the island including picturesque towns like Costa Adeje and La Laguna and areas of outstanding natural beauty, such the island's botanical gardens or the national park surrounding Mount Teide.
Lanzarote is located just off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. Being a volcanic island, it has some stunning scenic features such as the longest volcanic tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel. Despite the volcanic nature of the island, there are several beautiful white beaches such as Playa Blanca and Papagayo.
Gran Canaria is dubbed ‘The Small Continent’ as it has extremely varied landscapes with European, African and American vegetation. Maspalomas is the most beautiful of the many beaches on the island. Natural attractions such as a magnificent thermal spring called Balneario de los Berrazales and other volcanic sights are great for a day's sightseeing.

Customer rating:

Hotel excellent. One small complaint: no-one to assist around pool, so had to move chairs (heavy ) whenever one wished for shade or sun. No help with moving heavy umbrellas. Had to collect towels - not expected at a hotel rated 5*. Excellent Japanese restaurant. Problems over transfer back to airport. Finally had to take taxi. Very apologetic and they covered cost.

Customer rating:

Positives - very relaxing environment, attractive gardens + pool areas with plenty of sunbeds and good sized towels - get them the day before if you want them before 0930, at least in off season March. Wonderful staff with very quick response time to any request. Superb breakfast till 1100 with lots of choice and sparkling wine for those who like to start the day that way or ease in with freshly squeezed orange juice! Understand rooms are all of similar generous size with plenty of drawers and reasonable wardrobe space, good AC. Excellent bathrooms with frequently topped up supplies.Ice machines on each floor near lifts - iron/ironing board in rooms or on request. Restaurants to right and left of the hotel along lit promenade/part beach one way are within about 10 - 20 mins walk depending on your speed - some closed one day a week. If you want a table overlooking the sea esp. Caleta end you'd be better to book. Netto supermarket is nearest on opposite side of road in new complex between this and Costa Adeje Palace next door -reaonable prices eg postcards 30 cents. Stamps from Hotel Reception, who will also give you local maps. 'Negatives' for some maybe - balcony sizes do vary, even within room categories. Mini bars with space are being replaced by the fully stocked 'touch it and you pay for it' kind! No hotel beach but public ones within a couple of minutes walk. Coffee/tea machine is complex - pleased we had travel kettle and supplies - perhaps we were too relaxed to understand it! In house safes can be temperamental. €1.05 to £ makes for expensive food/drinks but it's a quieter, more 'select' resort so perhaps expensive anyway, our first visit. Hope some of this useful - what I like to know! We would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others.
